Williams set to confirm Toyota supply in days?

Its looking more and more likely that Toyota will be supplying Williams with engines in 2007, with a deal expected to be announced in days. Its unclear whether or not they will be badged as ‘Lexus’ in the back of next years Williams, but is another blow to Midland who are rumoured to be selling up.

Currently Toyota supply Midland with Toyota V8’s, but with the team struggling to break into the mid field its clear the engines could be better used elsewhere. In the last 12 months Sir Frank Williams has made no secret to sign a deal with Toyota for V8 engines, and its been a question of when, not how, for the Grove based team.

The news that Toyota are set to supply Williams with engines for next season is a bitter blow to Midland, who only a few days ago were rumoured to be selling up. The rumour has come and gone over the past 12 months, and with the lose of Toyota power it leaves the small independent team in a very difficult position.
