Sean Emmett is back with Croft Supersport victory

After a 14 year break from Supersports racing, Superbike star Sean Emmett made a return to winning ways at the North East circuit of Croft at the weekend.

In what could only be termed as atrocious conditions, with rain falling continuously throughout the Supersports race, it was to prove a difficult race for those who had not ridden in such conditions before - with spray from the bike in front making visibility difficult, along with having to be especially careful when applying the throttle.

With the race being red flagged on the first lap, it was pole-sitter Tom Sykes who led the restart, and defending his lines, but Sean was closing and took the lead on lap three. Sean then set the fastest lap of the race with Eugene Laverty closing - who then took the lead on lap seven.

By lap eleven Laverty had increased his lead to four seconds, but with the rain still falling he highsided at the esses on lap twelve. Disgruntled at his error, he aimed a kick at the hay bails as he returned to the pits, leaving Sean to take his first win aboard the Lloyds British Ducati backed machine.
