English Motocross Grand Prix - 17 bands to play

Music fans are in for a real treat at the English Motocross Grand prix in August, after the promoters of the world championship round confirmed a massive 17 bands will be playing over the weekend.

A wide range of musical tastes will be catered for at the event, as the promoters, 4E, bid to make the weekend of 26-28 August one never to be forgotten. Last year’s world motocross championship round on the Isle of Wight was generally accepted as the best GP of the series. But as well as the world’s best motocross riders in the MX1 and MX2 classes, and a host of other activities, there will also be plenty of live music on offer to keep fans entertained when the racing is not in full flow.

The music starts at 3pm on Friday, 26th August, and will continue on Saturday and Sunday as fans get treated to a full weekend’s entertainment. There is no need to rush off after the racing has finished. Make the English MX GP the music and motocross event of the year.

By adding Friday to the music programme the organisers have created the first three-day motocross grand prix on the race calendar. The majority of the bands are from Brighton, which is well known for its thriving music scene, and there are also several Isle of Wight acts who will be showing off their talents at the Gore Basin circuit in Arreton.

Headlining the music acts will be Brighton-based the loveGods, who won the best unsigned British band award. Silvermaker, a Brighton-based band, can be found at www.silvermaker.co.uk, and Isle of Wight act Evolution are back again after playing at last year’s GP. Evolution rocked the tent last year and are sure to be a big attraction this time around as well.

Four other Brighton-based bands who are playing at the GP are: Czar Creek, www.upczarcreek.com; Trent, www.trentonline.co.uk; McQueens, www.mcqueenmusic.com; Jonny Quality, www.jonnyquality.com/mp3s.html. Local talent is also represented by the following Isle of Wight acts - 4 Guineas, Jimmy’s Big Fish, Nautical Theme, Lemon House and After Hours. Jennifer Collins, Events Manager of GP promoters 4E, said: “We are determined to make the GP one people will not want to forget, and to do that we plan to offer a full weekend of entertainment. There will be times when there is no action on the track and we will be filling those gaps with some of the best young bands available. We will shortly be releasing details of other entertainment, some of it
aimed at young children as we aim to keep all ages entertained.”
