Weekend to forget for Sean Emmett at Snetterton

Stand in rider for Team JJL/UKDiggers’ Steve Plater, Sean Emmett had a weekend to forget at Snetterton. Having never ridden the Honda FireBlade previously, it was to be a mountain to climb to get used to the bike and race within two days.

Having spent Friday’s two practice sessions making adjustments and setting the bike up to suit his riding style, Sean only managed to gain a seventh row start - leaving him with a lot of work to do to gain a good finishing position come race day.

Race one saw Sean progress up to 20th position by lap nine, then he encountered some rear end chatter. By lap ten, coming down the very fast Revett Straight towards the Esses, the rear swung round and fortunately Sean avoided crashing.

Race two went badly, with the bike experiencing an electrical fault at the first corner, putting Sean out of the race even before one lap had been completed.

Sean said afterwards, “I had been struggling with the rear for some time, but when the rear decided to swing round on me I decided it was too dangerous to continue, so I went straight back into the pits to retire. I am disappointed that I wasn’t able to complete either race, but I did enjoy being back in the saddle, even if it was only briefly. Hopefully my feedback will be helpful to the team.”

With four weeks left until the next round at Scotland’s Knockhill Circuit, and with riders injured during the Snetterton round, hopefully there will be some chance of Sean getting another ride with a team in the BSB Championship series.
