Scarlets In Europe 06/07

Bred In Heaven's resident poet is back with another offering for site readers. This offering is based on the Scarlets form in this seasons Heineken Cup.

We had already done the impossible
beating Toulouse, both home and away,
and we did it in a style that is special,
and only the Scarlets can play.

But everything all went to hell then,
and we lost three on the trot.
Was it simply that we had been worked out,
or the lack of depth that we've got?

Could our boys bring back the sparkle
and some how, turn it on again?
If we won we were thru to the quarters,
in the way stood the proud Ulstermen.

The day it dawned all wet and gloomy,
the wind, well it blew a gale,
who best used it to their advantage,
well they'd be the team to prevail.

The wind first favoured the Irish,
they lead by first three and then eight.
Then the ref showed Alix a yellow,
for a tackle that he said was late. (it was high...poetic licence ok )

But our boys they held the line firmly,
though ten minutes seemed like a week,
when he came back we were attacking,
and their defence for once showed a leak.

Alix burst thru and over the try line
and tho they did score one more pen.
at half time their lead was so slender,
that it worried the proud Ulstermen.

The second half was once more a battle,
this time the wind was our friend,
Regan King he went in for our second,
against him it's so hard to defend.

The next try was scored by our fullback,
the first time he'd played in the cup,
it now seemed that we could breathe easy,
as the points they began to stack up.

we got two more before the games ending,
Peel and Thomas making it five,
was this effort down to the players,
or something that Phil did contrive?

It means that we're thru to the quarters,
and our Scarlets have done it again.
From all of us fans, I'd just like to say
Well Done, to our Scarlet men!
