RMI boss Andy Nelson has completed his first signing of the summer with former Altrincham defender Mark Maddox arriving at Hilton Park.

33 year old centre half Maddox arrives at Hilton Park as a replacement for young defender Liam Coyne, who has left the club for FC United of Manchester after an impressive first season in the Conference North.

The arrival of Maddox sees the renewal of his partnership with former Alty defender George Manning, with Maddox appearing more than 300 times for the Robins in a 10-year spell, winning the FA Trophy in 2003 in the process.

With RMI's first pre-season friendly of the season coming against Clitheroe on Saturday, Nelson is looking to build a competitive side, albeit on a smaller budget than last season, which has seen Gareth Stoker, Ryan McDowell and Alex Hay all released by the club in an attempt to raise extra funds for new players.
