Worcester City vs. Leigh RMI preview

After Tuesday evening's thrilling 4-3 home victory over Hucknall, RMI make the journey south to Worcester on Saturday afternoon in the unfamiliar position of looking for their third consecutive Conference North victory.

With Tuesday's victory coming hot on the heels of last Friday's 2-0 win over Hyde, which in itself was preceeded by the 1-0 FA Trophy victory against Cammell Laird, RMI go in to the game on the back of their best run of results all season, and they will be brimming with confidence against a particularly inconsistent Worcester side.

Worcester had only one league win to show from their opening seven home games, but have since recorded consecutive wins at St. George's Lane against Droylsden and Scarborough, whilst also disposing of high-flying Blyth Spartans in the FA Trophy, albeit in a penalty shoot out after 210 minutes of football failed to separate the sides.

Although defender Mark Maddox and dangerous striker Chris Simm are both likely to recover from the injuries that meant they failed to finish the full ninety minutes against Hyde, Leigh boss Stuart Humphreys will undoubtedly be tempted to keep faith with an RMI side that scored four goals in a home game for the first time in several seasons, with former Preston front man Mark Jackson particularly likely to retain his place in the team after an impressive hat-trick against Hucknall.

Admission is £10 for adults on Saturday afternoon, with a total of 110 miles between Hilton Park and Worcester's St. George's Lane home. If travelling by train, the nearest station is Worcester Foregate Street, situated about a mile from the ground with several pubs lining the route, while the A449 (M5 junction 6) is the best route by car.
