Stevenage Borough vs. Leigh RMI preview

Saturday afternoon sees RMI take a break from league action with a trip to Conference National side Stevenage Borough in the FA Trophy Second Round.

After the delirium of a nine game unbeaten run that included FA Trophy progress with victories over Cammell Laird and Harrogate Town, RMI were brought crashing back to earth with a 4-0 thumping at Conference North high-flyers Kettering Town last weekend.

Despite that disappointment, Stuart Humphreys’ young side will go in to the game with nothing to lose against a Stevenage side that are currently ninth in the Conference and with the added pressure of being clear favourites to win the tie.

Stevenage, who previously in the season had ex-RMI favourite Dino Maamria on their books, go in to the game on a terrific run of form, having maintained an unbeaten run since losing 1-0 at Wrexham in the FA Cup in November, sealing their Broadhall Way meeting with RMI with an emphatic 7-0 victory over Merthyr Tydfil in the FA Trophy First Round.

Their meeting with Stafford last weekend fell victim to the weather, but Stevenage achieved a full compliment of points over the festive period with away victories over St. Albans and Weymouth, along with a home victory over Aldershot in their last league outing.

Admission prices are likely to be £14 for adults, £11 concessions, with the possibility of segregation meaning that the RMI fans will all be contained within the same stand behind the goals.

Stevenage train station is situated roughly a mile away from the ground.
