Leigh RMI vs. Blyth Spartans preview

After the disappointment of Saturday's home defeat to Barrow, the RMI faithful can be forgiven for wondering which Leigh side will turn up to Tuesday's game with Blyth.

After two superb performances on the road with victory at Hucknall followed by a heroic, albeit unsuccessful, performance with 10 men at Stalybridge last Tuesday, Stuart Humphreys' side virtually failed to turn up to the 3-0 defeat at Barrow, leaving them perilously close to the relegation zone.

Although Blyth ran out 1-0 winners when the sides met at a rain-lashed Croft Park earlier in the season, a lot has changed since the Spartans last visited Hilton Park for a Unibond Premier League game in the 1999/2000 that saw RMI presented with the League Championship ahead of their promotion to the Nationwide Conference.

Blyth come to Lancashire in the midst of a decent run of form having defeated Worksop and Moor Green in their past two outings, leaving them in tenth place and still on the fringe of the play-offs such is the closeness of the competition.
