Leigh RMI vs. Clitheroe preview

Steve Bleasdale's Leigh RMI side take a break from league action on Tuesday evening when Unibond League Division One (North) side Clitheroe visit Hilton Park for a second round tie in the Co-Operative Lancashire Challenge Trophy (7:45pm kick off).

As is generally the case in the competition that was formerly known as the Marsden Trophy, a shadow RMI side, featuring several members of the club's successful reserve side, will be taking to the field against a side that defeated FC United of Manchester 2-1 in front of more than 1,200 on Saturday.

The two sides last met in a 2-2 draw in a pre-season friendly in the summer of 2006, while RMI's cup run was ended in a 1-0 defeat the cold at Nelson last season.
