After a recent safety inspection has deemed Hilton Park unfit for a safety certificate, Leigh Genesis' next 'home' fixture, a UniBond Premier League game against Whitby Town this coming Saturday (20th September) will now take place at Victory Park, Chorley.
After pitch complications meant that Hilton Park wasn't to be ready at the start of the season, Chorley FC and their chairman Ken Wright have already twice come to Leigh's aid in hosting fixtures against Ashton United and Ilkeston Town, before a 2-1 win over Prescot Cables has since proven to be the only game that is to take place at Hilton Park.
An inspection commitee of Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Greater Manchester Police deemed that Hilton Park was lacking in areas conducive to its current safety licence and therefore would be unable to host any more fixtures unless improvements, costing in the region of £100,000, were carried out immediately.
With the move to the Leigh Sports Village only to take place in November, it means that Leigh are now left to be playing home games 'on the road' until that point, with Leigh Genesis FC apologising for the inconvenience caused, whilst praising the supportive and understanding nature of the club's supporters at this time.

It does beg the question as to how we've got away with playing there even twice, not to mention the rugby, but I think it's over to the vandals and scrotes now. Will be very sad to see the place gradually fall down rather than just being demolished straight off.
Lets hope it doesnt get as bad as Leigh East did before that was eventually knocked down/blown over.
Take a shovel and barrow there and lay a bit of the hallowed turf in your garden
