Vital LGSA Meeting

By Matt Lawton
October 29 2008

In light of recent events, the Leigh Genesis Supporters Association have arranged a meeting to take place this coming Monday evening (3rd November) at Abbey Street Labour Club (between Leigh Road and the Avenue) to begin at 7:30pm, with the general aim being to find a way forward for our football club in light of the withdrawal of Dominic Speakman's funding.

All fans are encouraged to attend and offer whatever they can in terms of time, resources or ideas and do their bit in ensuring that this town still has a football club to call it's own.

If you require any further information with regards to this meeting, do not hesitate to contact us via info@lg-sa.co.uk

Great stuff - by then we'll know exactly what we need to do to continue operating so we all need to club together in our hour of need.

bring it up, think personally you need a board

The most active board members from last season will take over at some point, I imagine, hopefully with Mary, Donna, James and maybe even Dom on board in some capacity.

Would have to agree, need more heads together.
Maybe a case of too close to the project and no one to look in from a distance.

That would be a good idea, are all the above on fulltime wages though?

They're in the same boat as the players ie without a job. I think it speaks volume for their character and sheer love of this club that they continue to work for the club on a full-time basis but in a voluntary capacity.

Leyther 'til I die will never be more apt than on Saturday.

We'll never die, we'll never die. We'll never die, we'll never die. We'll keep the Leigh flag flying high, 'cos Genesis will never die.

Plenty of Wembley songs as well!

In fact, surely this deserves a thread of it's own?!

Don't get the old board in, Jesus! I think now we need enthusiastic people who actually want to do something with the club, as opose to those who previously didn't actually do anything at all! Dom did more for the club in 6-9 months than the board did since 2002 onwards. It is vital we get somebody new, or, group together as supporters and stabilise the ever sinking ship. Like everybody has said, we're gonna need some investment, and, the only quick way I can think of doing that, is begging, a whole lot of begging outside PremierLeague games with buckets! 80% of people in Leigh wont give a flying fkuc about the club possibly dissapearing, I mean, Dom did siht loads to try and make football an attraction in the town, but, yet again, it failed, it seems football in Leigh will never take off unless we advertise like MAD!, get back in the BS Premier, and get a lot of TV money. ATM, we looked fecked.

Get these printed off! Stick em in shops that would agree to take donations if we are serious about collecting money.

The old board members that are coming back on board, so to speak, are certainly some of the most hard-working and enthusiastic people you could ever wish to meet so I think we're in safe hands, particularly with a greater role for the supporters in everything.

I'd have to agree.
You have to remember the old board worked on a shoe string (as all before them)
I have heard of a few uninterested members in the past, situations with old chairmans in the 2002 - 2006 area.

There have been some times where this club wouldnt of made it without the board.

Come on we've got a picture of Alan Leach pitchforking the turf to get a game on!!!!

Quite right Jono, it's at times like these where we need as many people as possible working together to keep this club going.
