Leigh Genesis v. Cammell Laird (FA Trophy) preview

With all of the emotional events of recent days surrounding Leigh Genesis FC, it's easy to forget that Steve Bleasdale's side are in action on Saturday when UniBond Premier League rivals Cammell Laird are the visitors to Victory Park in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy.

With £3,000 on offer to the winners of the tie, it's more important than ever that the Leythers manage to grab victory and a vital payday.

It remains to be seen what sort of side will be representing the club on Saturday afternoon, but any existing players that do so will be playing free of charge and purely for the love of the club, and for that we should be eternally grateful.

As such, I would urge as many supporters as possible to get to Victory Park for Saturday's 3pm kick off and give our eleven heroes, not to mention the club's backroom staff, the support that they so sorely deserve at this time.

Although it was an obvious disappointment to lose our league fixture to Lairds, this game is now about so much more than the 90 minutes on the field so, although victory would be nice, I think the occasion demands that we, as supporters, simply celebrate our continued existence as a club.
