Coach travel to Matlock

By Matt Lawton
January 8 2009

The Leigh Genesis Supporters Association are delighted to announce that the UniBond Premier League fixture away to Matlock Town on Saturday 24th January will see a return of their previously well-attended coach trips in support of Lee Merricks and his Genesis starlets.

After running successful coach trips to the likes of Eastwood Town, Harrogate Railway Athletic and Witton Albion in a concerted effort to boost the club's away support, LGSA have responded to public opinion and brought a return of organised coach travel to away fixtures.

Seats for this trip will cost £14 per person, with the coach leaving from the Waterside Inn on Twist Lane in Leigh at 11am on Saturday 24th January, returning from Matlock immediately after the game.

Please note that there is strictly no alcohol allowed on this coach.

Places are limited so supporters are advised to make their bookings as soon as possible, either by e-mail to awaytravel@lg-sa.co.uk or by speaking to LGSA secretary Matt Lawton at the fixture against Cammell Lairds at Stainton Park, Radcliffe this Saturday (10th January, 3pm).

I shall set the ball rolling by booking myself on; see (and pay) me on Saturday if you want a spot.

Then I won't be able to reserve the seat for them - only guaranteeing a seat upon payment as I've had to pay it on my credit card rather than paying the driver.

33 seater Andy, the £14 price is based on getting 20 of us paying the full £14 each; obviously we'll be looking to give discounts to kids if we get over the required amount (£280) but that depends on how many we get.

Out of interest I checked return train times and prices from Daisy Hill to Matlock. Over 4 hours, with 4 changes and cheapest price £50. Let the train take the strain ?? I think not.

the train does take the strain off the wallet , about 2 hours on the bus and alot cheaper , roll on the 24th

HeyUp, long time no see!

I suppose Matlock was a poor rail example, but it is do-able for a few!

I'd be a great politician mate; I know how many have paid and that's the main thing! Sadly, it still leaves me significantly out of pocket!
