Striker set for debut

Genesis manager Lee Merricks has finally managed to secure the experienced striker that he was looking for, with twenty six year old forward Chris Thompson arriving on a month's loan from Blue Square Premier side Barrow.

Having started his career with Liverpool, Thompson made his professional debut with Grimsby Town before joining Northwich Victoria and then Chorley, having also spent time on loan with Droylsden and Leek Town.

Sixteen Conference North goals for Scarborough during 2006/07 earned a move to Barrow, where he scored sixteen goals during their run to promotion to Blue Square Premier during 2007/08.

2008/09 has seen Thompson appear for Barrow whilst also appearing twice during a loan spell back in the Blue Square North with Fleetwood Town.
