Leigh Genesis vs. Ossett Town preview

Ashton United's Hurst Cross ground provides the venue on Tuesday evening when Geneis look to get back to winning ways when they face mid-table Ossett Town.

The match is Leigh's second 'Roses' fixture in a matter of days, having returned from West Yorkshire empty-handed on Saturday after a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Guiseley.

The defeat proved costly, not only in ground lost on Leigh's fellow strugglers at the foot of the table, but also in terms of injuries with the Leigh physiotherapy team working over-time after Danny Morton, Phil Marsh and Chris Page were all substituted because of injuries, while centre back Ben McHugh didn't even make it through the warm up.

Of those injured players, Morton is the least likely to appear tomorrow evening after he left the ground in an ambulance, with his place in goal likely to be taken by deputy Dean Porter, who played in goal for the final thirteen minutes of Saturday's encounter.

Visitors Ossett Town arrive at Hurst Cross in mid-table, albeit only six points from the relegation zone, after a 2-1 loss at Marine on Saturday.

One visiting player who is guaranteed a warm welcome is goalkeeper John Lamb, who will be facing his old club for the first time after leaving in 2007 following a successful spell at Leigh, where he established himself as a cult hero amongst the Hilton Park faithful.

The two sides last met in August 2008 when a goal in each half from Darren Mansaram and Brad Maylett gave Leigh a comfortable 2-0 victory, though not a single Leigh player of the thirteen used that day remain at the club.

Kick off is at 7:45pm at Hurst Cross in Ashton-under-Lyne, with season tickets valid for use as normal. Otherwise, admission costs £8 for adults, £5 for students and senior citizens and just £2 for under 18's.
