Leigh Genesis vs. Boston United preview

Former Football League outfit Boston United are Leigh's opponents on Tuesday evening in a UniBond Premier League fixture that is to be played at Radcliffe Borough's Stainton Park ground with a 7:45pm kick off.

It will be the first time that the two sides, both struggling near the foot of the UniBond Premier League table, have met in their first year back at this level having both been in the Blue Square North last season.

While Leigh finished at the foot of the league last year, Boston were demoted to the UniBond Premier League because of their much-documented financial position that has seen them plummet from League Two to the UniBond Premier League in only a matter of years.

The last meeting between the two clubs saw Boston run out 5-1 victors at York Street, so unsurprisingly it is the home fixture that will be better remembered by Leigh supporters, with the Leythers coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Hilton Park in November 2007, despite having Andy Heald sent off.

Boston arrive at Stainton Park without a win in four league games, culminating in a 2-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Matlock Town that leaves the Pilgrims, who feature former Leigh defender Ryan Clarke, third bottom in the UniBond Premier League.

Boston boss Steve Welsh is boosted with the news that Wes Parker and Adam Millson may be fit for Tuesday's game, though Steve Melton, Michael Wood and Danny Matson are all likely to miss out through injury.

Genesis, meanwhile, are likely to continue with youngster Dean Porter in goal with Danny Morton still nursing a rib injury, while Chris Page and Karl Brown both face a race to be fit after suffering injuries in Saturday's 3-1 reverse at promotion-chasing Ilkeston Town.

I think both Boston and Leigh are going down as things are.

no-disrespect but your bottom of the league and had your funding took away and having to play at various grounds. This must be awful and I feel for you to see your team go through this pain. We play you and can't even score V 10 for 30 mins.

but spare a thought for us too. Raped by the previous owners and manager and then demoted a league then after a mid table finish last season we're demoted again. If we go down this season it will be the fourth relegation (demotion) in two seasons.

Good luck for the rest of the season. Oh and enjoy your clean sheet when you face us at york street in a few weeks time.

Shame we haven't got the Town End this year, though I'd hope a few more of us will travel this time!
