Stylish midfielder John Dillon began his career with Crewe Alexandra and spent a short period on loan with Leigh during the 2006/07 season, making his debut in a 1-0 FA Trophy win over Cammell Laird at Hilton Park in November 2006. Dillon scored an incredible long distance winner in a victory over Worcester City before suffering a broken leg in a 2-1 FA Trophy First Round victory over Harrogate Town at Hilton Park that ruled him out of action for six months.

Upon his release from Crewe, Dillon went on to play for Newcastle Blue Star, Leek Town and Witton Albion before rejoining Leigh in March 2009, making his debut against Nantwich Town that month.
