Trophy tie forces Railway postponement

Leigh Genesis’ upcoming home fixture against Harrogate Railway Athletic, scheduled to take place at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium on Wednesday 7th October, has been postponed due to the Yorkshire side’s involvement in the FA Trophy.

While Genesis do not enter the FA Trophy until they visit Midlands outfit Atherstone Town on Saturday 17th October, league rivals Harrogate Railway Athletic drew 2-2 with Woodley Sports this afternoon and as such need to replay the tie this week.

League and FA bylaws state that FA Trophy games take priority over league fixtures, and therefore this Wednesday's fixture will have to be re-arranged.

In a similar vein, next Saturday's scheduled league trip to Salford City may also have to be rescheduled, depending on the Ammies' FA Cup progress. The Moor Lane club face troubled Hyde United on Tuesday evening, and if Salford are victorious then they will have a home tie with Blyth Spartans on Saturday 10th October that will force the postponement of their meeting with Leigh.

The next game at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium will now take place on Saturday 24th October, when Mossley are the visitors for a 3pm kick off, with the same opposition visiting Leigh just days later for a UniBond League Challenge Cup Second Round tie (7:45pm kick off).

We now have five away games in a row, not including Atherton, before we're at home again - these fixtures are a shambles when it comes to the clashes with cup replays etc.

Not sure (I'm sure our resident FCUM fan will be on here soon enough to inform us), but I think it's been pencilled in for quite a while.

Cause the poor loves at Bury can't take 2 games in 2 days on their beloved pitch.
Strange however that Ewan Fields can though.

Right on cue!

Ewen Fields is an infinitely better pitch than Gigg though, it must be said.
