Genesis confirm their new beginning as they seal a groundsharing agreement at Crilly Park.

The end of the football season may have brought an end to Leigh Genesis' tenure at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium, but things are already looking up for the Leythers with confirmation that they will begin a groundsharing agreement at Crilly Park with neighbours Atherton Laburnum Rovers.

After negotiations had taken place between the two clubs and, latterly, Leigh Sports Village Stadium Company, Genesis will take up a one year tenancy at Crilly Park for the upcoming Evo-Stick Division One North campaign with an option for a further two seasons.

Fears that Crilly Park would not meet league standards have been allayed with a significant amount of ongoing work on the ground that will bring it up to the required level. A list of required jobs has been provided to the Leigh Sports Village Stadium Company, who have now undertaken a complete overhaul of the pitch, along with erecting a new block of toilets and a general tidying up of the ground.

Subject to this work being completed by the league's deadline of next week, a date that the club are confident of achieving, the groundsharing agreement has been signed by Genesis chairman Alan Leach. After two seasons of uncertainty that has seen the club use no less than nine different home venues, Leigh are finally in the position of finding a permanent home in the Leigh district that will host all of their home fixtures during the new campaign.

Numerous sponsorship opportunities along with season ticket information and matchday prices are soon to be confirmed by Genesis, with details to be issued via the local press and at www.leighgenesis.com, the club's official website.

I hope they can complete an overhaul of the pitch in under a week, I thought it would take a lot longer than that, presumably it wont be a major concern as long as it is ready for July, after all most clubs do their pitch renovations in the summer.

The pitch renovation wasn't actually part of the ground grading Paul so it won't have to be rushed through as such. Major improvement was the toilet block which I believe was supposed to be arriving today and then the perimeter barrier being made in to a solid object to replace the rails.
