Crilly opener on the horizon

After an eventful pre-season campaign, Leigh Genesis open their Evo-Stik League Division One North campaign on Saturday afternoon (21st August) when Curzon Ashton are the first visitors to Crilly Park, bringing to reality the hard work of those who helped to make the groundshare with Atherton LR possible and bring the ground up to league standards.

For those who are unfamiliar with the ground, Crilly Park is situated in the Hag Fold area of Atherton, only a short walk from both Atherton and Hag Fold railway stations and only a couple of minutes walk from the Leigh-Bolton 582 bus route (map here).

Season tickets are still available to purchase online here (costing £110 for adults, £70 for over 65's & students and just £20 for under 18's), with admission on matchday costing £7 for adults, £5 for over 65's & students and just £2 for under 18's, while members of the Leigh Genesis Juniors football teams are admitted free of charge upon production of their membership card.

Not only does the match mark Leigh's first game at their new home, but also the first game under the management of new boss Mark Maddox, who has overseen an interesting pre-season campaign where Leigh have delivered away victories over Silsden and Cefn Druids, whilst falling to narrow defeats to higher league opposition in Vauxhall Motors and Ossett Town, along with losing to the odd goal in five against league rivals Trafford.

Saturday's game kick off is at 3pm at Crilly Park for football in 3D....without the ridiculous glasses!

Hope that whets everyone's appetites! Should be a full preview later in the week, but hoping this one will appear in the local papers this week to promote the Curzon game.

And the more I think about the game, the more gutted I am to be missing it! Make sure there's a good atmosphere so any newbies will be willing to come back.

We played 50 odd games last year so look on the bright side, at least you'll see at least 20 of them!

people are going miss games throughout the season, not a big deal, you got other things to do then you have do them, just glad I'm not missing the first game at Costa Del Crilly

I'm absolutely gutted to be missing it to be honest mate, but one of those things I suppose.
