Leigh Genesis vs. AFC Fylde preview

Just two days after securing their passage to the FA Cup First Qualifying Round, Leigh Genesis are back in action tomorrow afternoon (Monday) when AFC Fylde are the visitors to Crilly Park for a Bank Holiday league clash.

The match is the third of the new campaign for each side, with Fylde making an indifferent start to the season with an opening day 2-0 loss at Lancaster City being followed by a 1-1 home draw with Witton Albion, meaning a return of one point from a possible six, despite the bookmakers placing Fylde amongst the pre-season title favourites.

While a Joe Evans goal was enough for Genesis to seal FA Cup progress with Saturday's 1-0 win over Runcorn Linnets at Crilly Park, Fylde exited the competition at the first hurdle with a 3-1 defeat away to league rivals Skelmersdale United.

Fylde boss Kelham O'Hanlon oversaw a big change in personnel over the summer, but has to contend with injuries to defender Phil Doughty and striker Andy Bell, while Ricky Mercer begins a six week suspension sustained whilst playing in a summer league game before signing for Fylde.

Genesis meanwhile have no serious injury concerns, with Paul Williams fit enough to be a non-playing substitute on Saturday after picking up an injury in the season opener against Curzon Ashton, while player/coach Andy Heald made his first start of the season.

Monday's Crilly Park kick off is at 3pm, with admission costing £7 for adults, £5 for over 65's/students and just £2 for under 18's, with season tickets valid for use as normal. Programmes are also available at just £2 each.
