Trafford vs. Leigh Genesis preview

Leigh Genesis continue their search for their first win of the Evo-Stik League Division One North season when they make the short journey to Flixton on Saturday afternoon to take on Trafford.

The two sides met as recently as last month when, in a hastily-arranged friendly at Shawe View, Trafford won 3-2 in a thrilling encounter.

Leigh's last league visit to Shawe View came in March this year when Genesis ran out 2-0 winners thanks to two goals from Jordan Stepien, including an injury-time penalty.

Genesis boss Mark Maddox should see his selection options boosted with the likely return of striker John Lawless after he missed Monday's 1-0 home defeat to AFC Fylde with an injury picked up in last weekend's 1-0 FA Cup win over Runcorn Linnets, while Paul Williams made his return from injury in the Bank Holiday meeting with Fylde.

Leigh are still searching for their first league win of the season after narrow home defeats to Curzon Ashton and AFC Fylde, along with a 3-0 away defeat at Wakefield, though Maddox's side did beat Runcorn in the FA Cup. Trafford, meanwhile, have made a particularly solid start to the season with 2-2 draws away to both Salford City and Lancaster City, with a 3-1 home win over Ossett Albion being followed by a 2-0 FA Cup win away to Holker Old Boys.

Trafford's side features two former Leigh players in the shape of defender Nia Bayunu, who made eight appearances during the 2008/2009 season, along with striker Richard Ratcliffe who was released from Leigh this summer after scoring once in fifteen games during last season.

To get to Shawe View, leave the M60 at junction 10 (Trafford Centre) and turn right on to the B5214 towards Urmston and go straight across two roundabouts. At the first set of lights turn right into Moorside Road and at the next roundabout take the second exit into Bowfell Road. At the next set of lights turn sharply to the left, then immediately right into Pennybridge Lane next to Bird-in-hand Pub, with the ground and car parking on the left after 100 yards.

Kick off is at 3pm, with admission costing £7 for adults and £3.50 for over 65's and under 16's.

if we play aswell as we did in the friendly with some players who where missing that game, i think we will get something out of it
