Squad and fixture update

After giving a chance for several pre-season arrivals to impress in the league campaign, Leigh Genesis boss Mark Maddox has continued to make further changes to the make-up of his squad.

Having signed Tony Rendell from Cammell Laird last week, the defender had a hugely impressive debut in Saturday's 1-1 draw away to Chester, with Rendell's arrival meaning the departure of centre back James Bell.

Twenty year old Bell joined Leigh in the summer from Marine and made a total of ten appearances for Leigh, one of which came from the substitute's bench, but has now been allowed to join league rivals Prescot Cables.

Also leaving Leigh is winger Tom Obasi (pictured), who impressed in short flashes during his six competitive appearances for the club but found that his commitments to the England Futsal side often interrupted his eleven-a-side career.

Obasi's space has been plugged with the return from injury of Jordan Gerrard, while Maddox is hoping to add an attacking player to his squad later in the week ahead of Saturday's trip to local rivals Chorley.

Once Leigh have dealt with Saturday's trip to Victory Park, they have four days to rest before Cammell Laird visit Crilly Park next Wednesday (27th October, 7.45pm kick off) for a re-arranged Evo-Stik League First Division North fixture.

Apologies for the late notice of the Cammell Laird game, been a bit of confusion over that one.

Bell was on the bench for Prescot last night against Clitheroe but didn't get on.
