Chorley vs. Leigh Genesis preview

After passing last week's test at high-flying Chester, Leigh Genesis now face a daunting trip to take on any number of familiar faces at top of the league Chorley.

The fixture is one of the first that Leigh supporters looked for on the fixture list and the start of the season, with the Victory Park club boasting a vast number of former Leigh players and being managed by ex-Genesis boss Garry Flitcroft.

In Chorley's line-up for the past few weeks alone have been ex-Leigh players in the shape of Lee Woodyatt, Mark Ross, Dale Whitham, Jack Dorney, Steve Flitcroft, Chris Simm (who has since returned to parent club Southport), Tom Ince, Matt Jansen, Jordan Stepien, Jonathan Smith and Wayne Maden, while Flitcroft is assisted by ex-Leigh assistant Mike Quigley.

The last meeting between the sides saw Leigh run out 5-1 victors at Victory Park, though only Scott Sephton, who missed last week's draw at Chester through suspension, and Chris Dykes, who is currently injured, remain at Genesis from the Leigh side that day, with eight of the fourteen players used now at Chorley.

Not for the first time this season, Maddox has a number of suspensions to deal with as Paul Williams, Joe Evans, Danny Lyons and goalkeeper Adam Judge are all serving bans, with Denis Barlow set to deputise in goal and new signing Jack Burke pushing a place in the squad.

The Leigh side are sure to be on a huge confidence boost after Rick Gleave's injury time equaliser earned an unexpected point from last week's meeting with Chester, while Chorley's last league outing brought only a draw with lowly Cammell Laird, who were thumped 3-0 at Witton Albion in midweek.

Kick off at Victory Park is at 3pm, with admission costing £7 for adults, £3.50 for over 65's and students and £1 for under 16's (free of charge if accompanied). The ground is situated close to Chorley town centre, close to the A6 from Westhoughton and through Adlington.
