Five second half goals for play-off chasing hosts Lancaster City ensured a miserable afternoon for Leigh Genesis as they suffered a six goal hammering at the Giant Axe to leave them rooted to the table of the table.
Genesis might have ended up with a hammering, but there was little sign of that for much of an encouraging first half for the visitors until they fell behind on forty three minutes when Paul Jarvis fired past Adam Judge from twenty yards out.
The lead was doubled on fifty seven minutes before signs of a Leigh collapse began to appear three minutes later when Alex Johnson grabbed a third for the home side.
Farrell grabbed his second on eighty one minutes before ex-Genesis defender Andrew Teague made it five with a minute of normal time remaining, with the rout completed in injury time thanks to Dave Swarbrick.
Leigh now have to pick themselves up for two consecutive home games, their first for over a month, when Cammell Laird are the visitors to Crilly Park on Tuesday evening for a 7.45pm kick off before welcoming Clitheroe the following Saturday (20th November, 3pm). Birkenhead-based Lairds are just two points ahead of Genesis after they suffered a thumping of their own in an 8-0 loss to Skelmersdale United, while Clitheroe are in sixth position but suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Curzon Ashton.

Wasn't aware that we had only had ten men when the second went in as Healdy's nose was plastered across his face after an elbow (the chairman's words, not mine!). Why will nothing go our way?!
Just hope the Lancaster @#$%& fan who along with his mates who came across to goad us, comes over to Crilly Park in the return fixture to be welcomed with a chair leg over his head. I dont forget.
