Leigh RMI have signed Wigan Athletic defender Ian Pendlebury on a free transfer, as predicted by Unofficial RMI Online yesterday. He signs along with a midfielder extending his stay at Hilton Park.

19 year old Pendlebury has signed for Leigh RMI only days after being released by Wigan Athletic.

Bolton-born Pendlebury came to prominence in October 2001 when he made his Latics debut as a left back in a 3-2 defeat against Wrexham and then in a 2-1 victory away against Tranmere Rovers. Despite impressing many on the WSOA (wrong side of Abram), Pendlebury found himself squeezed out of the first team picture.

Leigh RMI manager Mark Patterson has also clinched the signing of Darlington midfielder Mark Ford on loan for the rest of the season. Former Leeds United and England Under 21 star Ford has been on loan at Hilton Park for the past month and has impressed manager and fans alike.
