Conference Relegation Battle Heating Up!

After RMI's great win over Forest Green yesterday, it has really heated up the battle for survival in the Conference. With five teams all on 40 points in the bottom six, it is impossible to predict who is going down.

Kettering are as good as down but Woking, Leigh, Nuneaton, Farnborough and Stevenage are all next in line with 40 points. Not to mention Gravesend, Southport, Telford, Burton, Margate and Northwich who could easily be dragged into the fight as well.

This is certainly the most open relegation fight in years but RMI have an upper hand on a few teams above them, a game in hand. If RMI win that, I think another two more wins would secure safety.

The Railwaymen are only in the relegation zone now because of their dreadful goal difference, which has improved dramatically over the past few games.

Leigh have four cruicial games coming up, all against fellow relegation strugglers. They face Stevenage on Saturday, followed by games against Gravesend, Northwich and Kettering in the weeks to come. If RMI can win all these games then Conference football should be more than secured for next season, but this is a very hard task for Leigh and we wish them the best of luck.
