Beckham set to sign for RMI?

With a transfer to Réal Madrid out of the question after their president refused that any deal would be done, rumours are rife that Beckham's departure from Old Trafford will only be a short move along the East Lancashire Road.

You can't have failed to notice that England captain David Beckham is on the verge of leaving Manchester United after several bust-ups with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The back pages of the daily newspapers have been dominated by the 'will he won't he' saga that is unfolding at Old Trafford. It appeared that Beckham would be on his way to European superkings Réal Madrid, but that now seems to be out of the question after Réal claimed that they had no interest in bidding for the United midfielder.

That is all to be expected, but one thing that wasn't in the script was the drama unfolding in the past couple of days.

Beckham's former Spice Girl wife Victoria Beckham, who is commonly-known to have outspoken opinions about where her husband's career should head, has reportedly been spotted shopping on Bradshawgate in Leigh and even looking at potential new homes in the Higher Fold area of Leigh to replace the Beckham's "Beckingham Palace" residence amongst the United hardcore support in Surrey.
