Leigh RMI manager Phil Starbuck has boosted his firepower up front with the signings of two strikers, one who is already established at Conference level, the other a young up-and-coming striker.

Former Nuneaton Borough, Yeovil Town, Kettering Town, Stevenage Borough and Doncaster Rovers striker Carl Alford has joined the club after an unsuccesful spell with Gainsborough Trinity, and Starbuck feels that Alford has a lot to prove to his critics, and he has the ability to do so.

Starbuck has also added to the previous signings of Paul Rickers, on loan from Northampton, and the return of Damian Whitehead, along with young striker Mario Daniel, who scored on his debut in the 6-2 defeat to Chester, by signing youngster Chris McHale from last season's winners of the FA Trophy, Unibond League outfit Burscough.

However, both new strikers are unavailable for Saturday's FA Trophy game at home to Stalybridge Celtic.
