Ex-RMI striker set to join Conference rivals?

Ex-Leigh RMI striker Michael Twiss is the subject of intense transfer speculation after being linked with a £5,000 transfer to Conference rivals Morecambe.

Ex-Port Vale and Sheffield United striker Twiss, 26, has fallen out of favour with his current manager, Mark Wright, and hasn't started a game for Conference table-toppers Chester City since October.

Morecambe manager Jim Harvey is known to be a long-time admirer of the former Manchester United trainee and is looking to bolster his attacking options as his side push for a play-off place in the race to be promoted to the Football League.

The fee is set to be £5,000, only a fraction of what would be his normal market value, as his contract runs out in the summer and Chester, who are reportedly suffering severe financial problems, will not only be looking to cash in with a transfer fee, but also try to get Twiss' considerable wage off their payroll.
