The planned Leigh Sports Village has taken a huge step towards realisation with Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council being informed by Government Office North West that the project WON'T be called in for a public enquiry, putting paid to the infamous "PIP" movement as far as this project is concerned.
The massive project that is hoped will revitalise not only Leigh RMI Football Club but the Leigh area as a whole, will now go ahead, with the only stumbling block remaining being that of the formality of receiving full planning permission by having the final drawings passed and confirming the final layouts and materials.
The Village will house new college facilities and new facilities for Leigh East ARLFC and Leigh Harriers Athletic Club alongside the new stadium for both RMI and Leigh Centurions RLFC.
