The injury nightmare of Leigh RMI goalkeeper and assistmant manager Gary Kelly continues with the news that the former Republic of Ireland and Oldham Athletic star could be out of action until September.

Kelly suffered what was initially thought to be a straightforward broken thumb in the 5-0 defeat at champions Chester City on Boxing Day of last year but this week he had his third operation on what has turned out to be severe ligament damage in his thumb as he looks to save his career.

This operation means he could be out until September as he tries to recover, meaning that Ian Martin remains the only senior goalkeeper on RMI's books.
