New stadium gets the go-ahead!

A legal challenge by local man Frank Hampson against the Leigh Sports Village has been thrown out of the High Court, meaning work can now finally go ahead in building the project, which amongst many other benefits, includes a new stadium for RMI.

Although spearheaded by local man Frank Hampson, who stood for the "Legalise Cannabis Alliance" in the Leigh constituency in the General Election, it seems that he was simply used by Chris Maile and Peter Sargeant, neither of whom are natives of Leigh, nor have ever lived in the town, to gain legal aid to fund the objection.

After a lengthy hearing spanning a couple of months, the High Court ruled in favour of the £78million Leigh Sports Village project, bringing reward to hundreds of volunteers who’s enthusiasm and dedication helped to endlessly promote the project, with work set to begin once some minor financial issues have been ironed out in a meeting in London tomorrow.

The project is sure to breathe a new lease of life not only in to Leigh RMI FC and Leigh Centurions RLFC, but in to the town as a whole, re-defining it as a major sporting and education centre as a result of the many new facilities that the development will bring.
