FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round draw

The draw has been made today for RMI's first venture in to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup since the 1999/2000 season, RMI's last year outside of non-league's top flight.

RMI have been drawn away against mid-table Northern League side Chester-le-Street Town in a tie that is to be played on Saturday September 24th, a week after this Saturday's home tie against Hednesford Town in the Conference North after the Wearsiders won 2-0 at Curzon Ashton in the previous round.

Both sides will be desperate for victory not only for the national exposure that an FA Cup run brings, as RMI found in the 1998/99 season when they famously drew 1-1 with Kevin Keegan's Fulham at Craven Cottage before eventually succumbing 2-0 in front of Sky TV and over 7,000 fans at Hilton Park in the replay, but also the winners cheque of £3,750 which would come in very handy for any non-league side, with the promise of more money in each round.
