Leigh RMI vs. Workington preview

Lancashire meets Cumbria on Saturday afternoon when the premier footballing outfits of two towns more famed for their rugby league exploits come head-to-head at Hilton Park.

After the excitement of last weekend's 3-1 victory at Chester-le-Street in the FA Cup, Andy Nelson's side mustn't allow themselves to start dreaming of a lucrative FA Cup run and instead concentrate on collecting vital points in the Conference North, especially with the prospect of facing divisional rivals Gainsborough Trinity in the Third Qualifying Round of the world's greatest knock-out competition.

Although struggling in the league, Workington have cup ambitions of their own after finally winning an epic cup replay in midweek after extra time, with the danger for them now being that they could tire towards the end of Saturday's encounter.

After a much higher than average RMI support made the trip to Durham last weekend, the likelihood of increased vocal support for the lads has been dramatically heightened with the news that the Tommy Sale Stand will now be open for Leigh RMI supporters for Saturday's game following a successful trial for the 1-0 victory over Hinckley United, with the excellent acoustics of the stand massively improving the Hilton Park atmosphere.

After pocketing £3,750 from last weekend's Cup victory, RMI will be looking to capitilise on any opportunity to increase the support, drag along a friend on Saturday and sing your hearts out - come on Leythers!
