Leigh RMI vs. Lancaster City preview

Red Rose rivals Lancaster City made the relatively short trip to Hilton Park on Tuesday night for RMI's second home game in four days.

After a lengthy run of defeats, Andy Nelson's young side looked to have finally turned the corner after putting in undoubtedly their finest display of the season, only to lose 1-0 at home to Worksop after having the ball cleared off the line three times and hitting the crossbar on no less than four separate occasions.

After a blank weekend because of the FA Cup commitments of their Conference North opponents, the Dolly Blues go in to the game with the possibility of going to the dizzy heights of third place should other results go their way.

Because of RMI's period at the top of non-league football in the Conference, the last league meeting at Hilton Park between the sides saw RMI run out 2-1 winners on their way to the Unibond Premier League title. They have since beaten the Dolly Blues 2-1 in the final of the Peter Swales Challenge Shield shortly before the start of RMI's first Conference season, whilst Lancaster ran riot at Hilton Park a couple of years ago, running RMI ragged in a 3-0 victory.
