Airdrie spent Christmas Day at the bottom of the Scottish First division after Queen of the South managed a 1 – 0 away win against Saturdays opponents Livingston, the result lifted them to eighth in the league.

Unlike the fans of Airdrie, who may have been devouring turkey or having a small drink, the players were out training yesterday for our match against Ross County today.  It seems there were some questions prior to today’s match as to when it should get played. Airdrie were looking to get the match played last Friday night but it seems Strathclyde police thought they would have to-much-to-do on the Friday before Christmas, the Saturday was ruled out by Ross County which means, thankfully for me anyway, the match goes ahead today at 3pm.

Kenny Black has a chance today to lift us above both today’s opponents Ross County and Queen of the South, a win could mean so much for our season.
We have only one doubt for today’s game Bryan Prunty will definitely not make it after going over on his ankle against Dundee United in a friendly last week. After being stretchered off he is well on his way to recovery.

Xavier Barrau has recovered from a slight groin strain that saw him leave the match against Queen of the South early.

Neil McGowan, who received an ankle injury during our clash with Queens, will also make today’s line up.

Once again Kenny Black Will be interviewed at around about 6:15pm on L107 and will no doubt contradict everything I have written.

Opponents News

Ross County see to be going through a transitional period, rumours from Dingwall are that certain directors are taking a hand in choosing the team on match days and the manager has very little control over the changing room.
Whether true or not they have still beaten us twice this season and it's about time we turned that around.
The only player news available is that on loan defender Lee Wilkie may be making a start for the Staggies.
