St Andrew's 3 Vs. 0 Caldervale
By Chris Mac
April 27 2007
St Andrew's High School won the United Schools cup with three terrific goals in the second half of an in thrawling match. It took a superb piece of skill to break the initial dead lock of the first half.
There wasn't much to talk about in the first half, neither team made many chances in what was a very even match.
Mid way through the second half a singular piece of skill from Tony Watt gave
St Andrews the lead after dribbling by three Caldervale defenders he slotted
home for his first goal of the match.
The second goal came from a free kick just inside the Caldervale half, once
again it was Tony Watt who scored this time from a header.
Caldervale had a few excellent chances to get themselves back in the game and
Scott Bulloch was unlucky to see his cross tipped beyond the on rushing Caldervale
attacker. The third and final goal of the match was scored seconds later by
Mathew Devlin, A through ball split the Cadervale defence and Mathew timed his
run to break the Caldervale of side trap, from outside the penalty spot he slotted
home to finish the match.
Man of the Match went to Caldervales Scott Bulloch.
