Alba Challenge Cup first round draw

Airdrie have been drawn against Partick Thistle in the Alba Challenge Cup.

In a replay of 2008 - 2009 season semi final Airdrie will open the season against one of our biggest rivals.

 Date is the 25th of July, kick of time and further details to be announced.

ALBA Challenge Cup first round draw in full:

NORTH/EAST SECTION:

Ross County v Alloa Athletic
Peterhead v Cowdenbeath
Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Montrose
East Fife v Forfar Athletic
Elgin City v Brechin City
Stirling Albion v Raith Rovers
Dunfermline Athletic v Arbroath

BYE: Dundee

SOUTH/WEST SECTION:

Ayr United v Albion Rovers
Stenhousemuir v Clyde
Annan Athletic v Queen's Park
Dumbarton v Morton
Airdrie United v Partick Thistle
Queen of the South v Livingston
Stranraer v Berwick Rangers

BYE: East Stirlingshire

Very difficult - but I'm actually quite happy with that draw. Good way to start the season with an interesting game....especially with a good lot of boring ones to come.

hope we dont have to foot the police bill.......or we will end up like clyde or livvy.
Those choppers dont come cheap you know & the price of horsefood is astronomical....... this for a meaningless diddy cup 1st round.

what a great birthday present that is for me a meaningful game instead of a stupid friendly. When we beat them it will be a great night out for me .
