Airdrie 1 – 1 Queen of the south

Airdrie’s first home match in the Irn Bru First Division ends in a one each draw, goals from Stewart Kean and Bobby Donnelly earned both teams a point.
Airdrie started the game quickly and an Alan Trouten cross with in two minutes of the kick off nearly got Airdrie of to the perfect start in our first home league game of the season. A goal mouth scramble finally cleared the ball for Queen of the South.

If you missed the opening two minutes of the game you missed most of the action in the first half. Both teams played some ok football but it was blatantly obvious that neither team had a killer touch.
The goals came in the second half, referee Charleston gave Queen of the South a free kick after McLaughlin was deemed to have been causing an obstruction rather than protecting the ball. The free kick was poorly defended by Airdrie and Kean headed home from the Cross.
Airdrie fought back and on 81 minutes got the equaliser we deserved, the Queen of the south keeper fumbled a corner for trialist Tom Nolan and Bobby Donnelly pounced, slamming the ball in to the net.
Both teams tried for the winner but it wasn’t to be.
