DTI 0-3 AS Airdrie

Airdrie turned in a fine performance on saturday to keep there unbeaten start to the season going. S.Graham, Burton Capldi and Gray were all absent from last weeks home win over ICC Edgar, McCall, Cooper and Shaw returned to the squad to make the starting 11 Hetherington and McPake were on the subs bench.

Airdrie started brightly and Shaw dragged an effort just wide early on however it wasn't long before Airdrie grabbed the lead with scott Lindsay firing home from 25 yards. Airdrie made it two shortly after when Brady caused DTI all sorts of problems in the own box they half scrambled the ball clear, Airdrie worked the ball back to cooper and his ball into a packed box was chested down by Adams and the ball landed at the feet of Smith who rattled home from the edge of the box. Asdams grabbed a third after Smith chased the ball down the left channel clipping the ball past the first defender the second tried to play the ball back to the keeper but Brady got in front and prodded a shot goalwards, The keeper blocked with his feet and the rebound was scuffed across goal by Smith and Adams was on hand to slam a shot past the despairing defender. Lindsay had 3 great efforts from the edge of the area just off target as Airdrie threatened to score at will.

Half Time 0-3

All credit to DTI who came out second half and had a lot of the ball, Airdrie played mostly on the counter as DTI pressed hard to get a foot back in the door but Slevin mopped up time and again at the back and Graham in the Airdrie goal had relatively little to do. Shaws fitness or lack of it showed a little in the second half as he burst through from midfiel the usuall accelaration wasn't there and the defender got a tackle in. Lindsay should have had a penalty when he was pole axed inside the box but the ref waved it away. adams had a chance late on to put a gloss on the performance as Lindsay found him with a terrific pass he rounded the keeper but from a tight angle put the ball just over the bar.

A good 3 points in the end and it was the quick start to the game that made all the difference again a good all round performance with some excellent contributions but Slevin just pips Smith to the MOM award this week our goals against column is really good and Slevin has been the most consistant player back there 6 clean sheets this season is good going in any league.
