AS Airdrie 8-1 Victoria Park

Airdrie brushed aside local rivals Victoria park with a comprehensive win at Broomfield, No changes to the line up that reached the Scottish Cup 4th Round but Capaldi and Hetherington returned to the bench.

Jim Brady put Airdrie ahead after 2 minutes, Ross Graham's throw was returned to him by Smith, Graham found Brady on the right flank and his pass inside for Lindsay was returned to the winger who cut inside and curled a 20 yard finish into the bottom corner.Airdrie were 2 ahead minutes later, again Graham's throw, in this time finding Lindsay and he put a perfect ball over the defence for gray to coolly lob the stranded keeper. Victoria Park were thrown a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty as a cross struck Smith on the arm and Rowan was unlucky but the score became 2-1. Airdrie made it 3 after 18 minutes as Adams fired a ball across the goal line after a corner wasn't properly cleared and Brady turned the full, back inside out before striking a low drive which the keeper could only parry out to Gray to poke the ball home. Frontman Gray had to come off after 20 minutes with a knee problem, Capaldi the player replacing him. Airdrie struck a fourth after 25 minutes Stuart Smith with another 20 yard drive to his collection gave the keeper no hope and effectively ended the contest.

Half Time 4-1

Airdrie knew Park would come out fighting in the second half but Lindsay quickly put an end to that with a 5th goal, Collecting the ball from Brady he strode forward and drove a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Slevin replaced Edgar after 60 minutes and It was 6 on 66 as Airdrie won a corner on the right, Lindsay got a head to the cross but it was scrambled off the line only for  Cooper to react first to the loose ball to stab home from close range in a packed area. It was 7 soon after as lindsays through ball beat the defence and Capaldi ran on to round the keeper and tuck the ball into an empty net. hetherington came on to replace the hard working Adams up front and got his goal with 5 minutes to go as capldi found him unmarked at the back post to slam home the 8th and final goal of the game.

Full Time 8-1

An excellent performance and some noable displays, Brady and Adams worked the away back line the whole game and the work put in from Iain Shaw desrves special mention But Lindsay pulled the strings in the middle yet again and  4 assists and a cracking goal takes the mom award this week.
