Just because in recent years our season has commenced before that of the SPL clubs doesn't mean that we have to bring ours forward because they do. In all probability it will just mean that the SPL and SFL competitive fixtures start at the same time, end of July.

Agreed. I'd be more worried, however, about our inability to field 11 players around about this date if the previous few years are anything to go by.

Fed up freezing my bollox off as last few months have proven.

Dumbarton at home midweek (-2) or Champions league at home (roastin).
No wonder crowd scraped 400.

That said this so-called compromise is a joke that again epitomises the short sightedness of Scottish football

Are you seriously suggesting that we hold off the start of the season for T in the park? What about other music festivals? Reading isn't until 28th August!

I'd hope this was the start of a process of moving the season to summer football. As it is it's just a measure to help the bigot brothers get further in Europe. Leave the Ess Pee Ell to fix their dates and leave the rest to get on with it. If the other leagues choose to start in mid June I'd be happy with that. Bring on summer football, the quicker the better.

I don't think The Editor is for 1 minute suggesting that the season kicking off be arranged to suit T in the Park. What they are trying to emphasise is that people (myself included) choose to by a season Ticket based on the on the number of home games they are going to be able to attend against the turnstyle price. £225 for 18 home games against £270 at the the gate. All it takes is missing 3 home games and you may well consider not buying a season ticket, and that has an overall effect on the clubs finances.
My own situation is that Im at T in the park, then away on Holiday so going with the editors example I would be 1 game away from NOT buying a season ticket before the end of the 1st month of the season....And Im sure there are a lot of Teachers who buy season tickets in a similar situation as they can only go on holiday July & August. So at a time when money is scarce can Scottish Football as a whole afford to ailienate their member clubs fans base even further?

Craig, I gave up on buying a season ticket when it became apparent that the club was unable to fulfill it's fixtures in the winter months. With season tickets you expect to miss the odd game, but when it becomes 4/5/6 games it's not worth the hassle.
On the subject of cup games (which the thread started on) they aren't covered by season tickets anyway, so the point is moot.

Teachers can only go on holiday in July or August? Do you not get a big break in April too? Do you not get a week in October too? Or are you "correcting homework" then, the usual excuse trotted out by those criminally underpaid overworked teachers?

Im not a teacher so I can't argue one way or the other.

For me the summer is time to forget about football & get a break from it.

Not to get away from the point being football but this is the sort of stupid, ignorant and uninformed comment that really pi55es me off!

Oh how i would love holidays at any time of year i ask. Oh how i would love to up and away mid June or may even. Just like the kids with the selfish parents do...just to save a few bob. Returning expecting to be provided extra time out my lunch cos they chose to holiday out with the holiday time.

Oh how i would love to be paid for supported study, work at home, extra curricular. What could I do with all the flexi time it would earn me? I regularly work 60 hours a week. I could have used my degree and got paid more for a 9-5 with flexi time and the ability to stop working at "home time".

With councils and government changing our contracts, teachers are getting treated like@#$%&but don't worry free child minding will still be provided. But after school study clubs and sports teams could be a thing of the past when we start working to rule though.

Try my job Desmond dikker before knocking it. It is in many ways a calling and can be very worthwhile. But would love to see anyone try it before labelling it easy.
