I ignored a warning about this cup from a local in Fraserburgh.

"Watch oot fur Peeterheed they're De'ils wi the stanes."

and......got hit in the face with a brick.

Mark my words.....that's all I'm saying.

One thing is guaranteed, it won't be anywhere nearly as messy as the one we attended in 1990 or was it 91.

2 vanloads from Airdrie in Aberdeen driving about the city with the side doors open with clothes stretchers hanging out hitting anyone who moved as the clubs shut then trying to break into Pittodrie later on.
Sleeping outside Pittodrie in the van then attacking golfers at 6.00am while still wrecked.
Stopping the gala mentioned above as drunken Airdrie lads fought amongst themselves in the street stopping all the floats- what else could they do as no locals were interested any any fisticuffs at that point?
Fights breaking out all night to such an extent that it ended with about 20 Airdrie attacking what seemed like the whole town at chucking out time which ended up with said Airdrie eventually locked in their B&B by the police as about 100 locals surrounded it.
Remember a pub got slightly wrecked during one disturbance and when we (me and another 2 guys) were getting followed by some locals later on, we went back into the same pub and lifted chairs etc and went out into the street to confront the local vagabonds and troublemakers only to discover another 10 or so Airdrie already there which resulted in the local publican holding his head in his hands and starting to cry

Mental weekend and it was like something from casualty on the way home with split heads etc................absolutely brilliant and thats why
WE ARE AIRDRIE!!

Was indeed. In the bakers at 7am or something just arrived in Peterhead and looking at the list of things on offer above the counter, we asked for a roll on sausage, bacon roll etc. Medicine Baw said he wanted a wedding cake and obviously the guy said something like "It's 7am mate, we don't do wedding cakes at this time", which Medicine Baw replied, quite indignantly "Well, you shouldn't have it up on the board then ya fvvcking t1t!".

It is indeed about 15-20 miles and a total dump of a place full of weirdo farmer/ fishermen/ eastern Europe (delete as appropriate) cvvnts.

I remember the two main trips up there like they were yesterday as well. It's remebering what actually did happen yesterday that's hard.

I got off lightly compared to some of the others I suppose.
The man who was never the same after the 1st trip was he who wore The Alperton High gutties.

Yes indeed, Mr. Alperton High caught me w4nking to Dappledown Farm and ran out of the hotel room.

Brian Cant was still something of a looker in those days.

You should see the brick! My sturdy 80's specs took the blow well. the were aboutt a yard long when I found them. I had to borrow SWR's to find them....While the fight was still going on.

Same thing happened in Wales. I'd had mine mashed in to my dial by a local and had to share his to see wee bits of the game.

Same trip a fisherman tried to wash GMcL'S hair in the chip shop fryer. I hit him with a substantial carry out bag and he never even blinked. You probably know the next bit.
Auld Victor stopped his pals getting in by turning the closed sign round...which actually did buy us some time to escape.

Was it Peterhead or Fraserburgh where a pub owner punched you in the face after you took a @#$%& on his pub window? Can remember that clear as day as you pulled out hour maggot and started p1ss1ng on his window. He came charging out and punched you and you were like "What was that for?"
"For p1ssing on my window" he said, and you said "No I didny" as you stood there with the small shrivelled morsel Still in your hand. Clerkston got lifted at that game as well, well just outside it and can always remember Medicine Baw on the Sunday in the local shop. Woman in the shop asked him where he was from and when he said Airdrie she said "I hope you weren't one of those involved in those disturbances last night as at one point there was 9 police vehicles on the scene". Albert said something along the lines of that was my pals and trying to make herself feel better she then said "Well at least you will all be going home today" Medicine Baw then said, just as she was handing over his change "Well naw, we were actually going to stay up the full week" which provoked the old woman to drop his change all over the floor as she digested this bombshell. Medicine Baw said the look of horror and terror on her face was hilarious.

I was on the other side of that window incident. I knew it was a rough pub when I noticed it had plastic windows.

There was also the terrible jobby drinking incident.....He won the bet though!

The Alperton High trainers actually didn't make an appearance until the following year at Fraserburgh. I remember it well as I really clocked them as he had his feet up on my seat on the bus after I had just got out of hospital after deciding it was a good idea to fight those 10 guys carrying baseball bats. In Fraserburgh police station for half the day and in the hospital for most of the other half, what a crazy weekend that was as well
Remember getting a lift from a nurse on the Sunday and driving around Fraserburgh trying to find you all, and then saying to the nurse "Stop, they will be in there"
Obvious give away was a pint tumbler with a big jobbie in it sitting outside the pub.

That was only about 9 in the morning. The pub opened early for the fishermen.

What about after the game on the Sunday? Remember all the locals waiting on us outside in that car park? Wellington Wilberforce walked over, put his left leg up in the wall and pressed play on that big boogie box we had with us and "Swords of a thousand men" came blaring out. I was pretty much right next to him and remember looking round and half the Airdrie guys there had bowler hats on for some reason and were all pogoing behind Wilberforce.
He then just waved them over and said "Come on then" but they didnt fancy it. Guys in bowler hats, Alperton High trainers and I had a Leeds top on covered in blood from the night before- when you think about it, we must have looked more than a bit shady lol

Medicine Baw is a character all right. I remember him being lifted at Dundee, he was sitting in the jam sandwich and the whole bus was at the windows singing "******'s a team ball, ******'s a medicine ball" to the tune of Morning Has Broken

Yes, I remember the barman punching me for @#$%& on his pub. Was quite amusing in retrospect. And the jobby-drinking incident. Hilarious. And getting dry-humped over the pool table, to which the barman shouted "Haw ye cannae dae that in here, mind." Like that was the final straw. Like the jobby-drinking and everything else up until that point had been acceptible.

Didn't someone go swimming in the diesel-slicked waters of the harbour? I'm a bit vague on that.

And the Alpertons. He threw them over a wall after all the stick he took, only for them to turn up lying inside the football park.

I remember heading up for F/burgh leaving Edinburgh at 12 noon doing my best to get up for 3pm, half three was the best i could do only to find out it was a 7-30 kick-off.
After the game i can remember being at a night club, was at the bar, HH had just been served, as he was walking across the dance floor with a tray of drinks, a big fat c*** bumped into him, H just walked on but i saw him clocking what seat he was on, moments later H returned his tray then walked up behind the fat guy, he was sitting on one of they plastic school chairs with the bit cut out of them at the a***, with him being fat his A*** was sticking out, H just stepped back and kicked as hard as he could then started singing "come on Airdrie" reference to what Sergeant Wilson had mentioned earlier Dexys come on eileen being top of the charts at that time, police were in,in no time, game over.

I knew i should’ve worn my winfield plimsoles instead, thanks the night-terrors will start again. It was michaela strachan you were pulling yourself off to, not brian cant but in your defence you did give me a 2 sec warning to flee, before your frantic pounding caused your glasses to bounce off the end of your nose. So I ran into n & w’s room for a bit of cupboard raiding & trying on hats. 10 mins later returned to you lying having a fag next to damp patch.
