SWAP YOUR OLD STRIPS FOR A FREE UNDER 16S SEASON TICKET!
By Stomp Admin
June 10 2014
This could be one of the best campaigns the Supporters Trust and Club have ever ran, please share far and wide.
Give us an old football strip, from any club in any size, and we will give you a FREE season ticket!
That’s right. In return for a full kit, a shirt or a set of shorts and socks, youngsters will be able to cheer on Gary Bollan and his players for FREE during the 2014-15 League One campaign.
The trust have teamed up with the charity KitAid which has donated more than 200,000 strips to people in some of the poorest countries in the world.
The non-profit organisation, which is based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and boasts former England manager Graham Taylor as its patron.
And fans’ trust members want to support KitAid’s work and promote the charity in Scotland while filling the main stand at New Broomfield with the fans of tomorrow and strengthening links with the local community.
The initiative was promoted at the stadium on Monday night with current stars Liam Coogans and Chris O’Neil joined by ex-Airdrie stars Andy Smith, Bryan Prunty and young Jordan Allan – who himself would qualify for the scheme! – lending their support.
It will be officially launched on Saturday, June 28, at Airdrie’s Wee Fair Day where the trust will have a stall and be selling official club merchandise.

As long as that's the rule then sounds like a brilliant idea which helps a charity also
Well done the Trust and the Club!
Brilliant way to bring in a new young generation of supporters.
If more people around the world get the opportunity to wear an Airdrie strip then even better! ;-)
Only doubt on Official site point 5
Not sure that teenagers would be interested if they have to be accompanied by an adult.

It will be a hard thing to police, so easy to get around it. Allegedly. More a case of keeping the club right and being seen to be responsible.

1.) have a rally in your local pub. Any team, size etc...get your pub behind the scheme. You will probably get a free drink out of it and be seen as an all round good guy.
2.) Have a rally at work. All it takes is one email to ALL (we will supply a copy and paste template). You help charity....you look good at work....you get promoted/avoid being sacked for charitable work.
3.) Can you help give out posters in your local village/town - please let us know. We will supply free white tack, and you will even get a free sausage roll and some sympathetic 'awwwwwws' from old women.
4.) Can you help out on Fair Day ? From blowing up balloons, manning the stall, face painting....we need at least 20 folk. Staff discount on face painting apply.
All suggestions welcome on how to make this a success. This is a COMMUNITY project...any ideas are most welcome.

Re the Motherwell top...it was tossed around loads of folk before someone grudgingly agreed to hold it. Hoping to steal kids away from the Old Firm and MOtherwell, who unfortunately are creeping into our town.

1.) Can I donate strips even if I dont want a ticket ? Yes.
2.) Can I donate more than one strip ? Yes - we positiively encourage it !
3.) What if I want a season ticket, but can't make Fair Day ? You can take your strip along on any of the designated club shop opening nights throughout July and swap it for a season ticket! Opening times will be announced in due course.
4.) What if cant make Fair Day, but want to donate strips ? We have designated Donation Stations opening up weekly. Starting Point Centre in Graham Street, Airdrie, and the Excelsior Stadium are already taking strips for us, but NOT giving out season ticket vouchers
Anymore questions guys?

"Good afternoon I am the treasurer of Larkhall Thistle and noticed your advert on one of the bus shelters in the town. We have roughly four sets of football jerseys both youth and adult sizes which we would like to donate to kit aid. Unfortunately we do not have the shorts or socks as we gave them to our player's as training gear when times were hard and we couldn't afford training gear. We also have a number of balls which are not good enough for us but maybe some kids could make use of them. The kit is all boxed in blue plastic containers should you be interested."
I replied thanking him asking if he would be interested in the free season tickets, and he replied
"we were actually going to contact kit aid direct when we saw your poster. If you want the balls as well we will deflate them and put in old ball bag. Do you collect or do we need to bring gear to you.If you want maybe there is some deserving kids in your area who would welcome the tickets we actually don't charge kids who come to our games as they are we hope adult supporters in the years ahead."
The moral of the story, is upwards of 50 people in Africa will now benefit from one man's audacity to fly post in Larkhall. And secondly, from a footballing perspective, how even the smallest of teams can see the benefit in letting kids in for free. Small teams thinking big....

Pro Bowl Bowling - stocking the lager for us; posters up; and have offered an hours bowling for a family of 4 to be given as a mystery prize on Sat. This is a great venue - on our doorstep. Cheap, friendly and a great wee bar. Use it people.
Kids Kingdom - donated two free passes to be used as mystery prizes for the kids goodie bags. Another great service on our doorsteps - recently under new mgmt. Use it people ! Although only if you have kids, obvs.
Burger 7 - a phenomenon recently opened in High Street. Two meals donated for a Trust prize. A great gesture by a newstart business. Use it people.
Coney no Dae that - £10 voucher to be used as a mystery prize for the Goodie Bags. This place is unbelievable An ice cream parlour with 6 people serving and still queued out the door at 8.30 on a miserable night. Use it people.
North Lanarkshire Council - have given us 4 family tickets for the Town Hall Cinema which is IN AIRDRIE. How many of you even knew they did that ? An amazing gesture. They will also hopefully be stocking the beer. Use it people.
We are trying to get the spirit back we had when we were in the cup finals...when the whole town got behind the football team. We were proud to be Airdrie fans, we were proud of the town, and we loved the connection between both. Please support the local businesses who are supporting us and get the connection back.

You are doing a fantastic job. Keep it up!
Come down. Bring your kids..your nieces…nephews…grandweans…mums and dads. Even if it’s just for an hour (the Fair’s not what it used to be – no wee monkeys to get your picture taken with). AND WEAR SOMETHING AIRDRIE RELATED OR RED AND WHITE. B Boys, Scarfers, Geeks, Cue Here bus, WEB bus, out of towners, families etc…all the various factions that make up our merry little band. Let’s show the people of this town that there is another option to the Old Firm, that there is an Airdrieonians team to be proud of and it’s on their doorstep. Not in an intimidating way…not aggressively….be nice. But emphasise the great offer that is available to them, and big up the Diamond experience. Let’s try to get as many new fans along as possible.
The process for what to do should – hopefully – be relatively simple. We will have a marquee outside WH Smiths. We will have 3 teams of 2, collecting your strips and handing over – where it’s wanted – the season ticket voucher. We will also be recording the names of those who take a voucher as a precaution to the voucher being lost.
From there – although not compulsory – everyone will be directed up to the Starting Point. The 1st 120 kids who show their voucher will receive a free goodie bag. The 1st 200 kids will receive a balloon.
In terms of redeeming the voucher to get a season ticket, these will need to be taken up to the Stadium on the dates they are selling the season tickets, and the swap takes place.
That all make sense ?
In terms of other things tomorrow…..
1.) We will have 3 face painters at the outside marquee. These guys will only be doing red and white diamonds/AFC’s etc etc. The Fair day have employed *proper* face painters, but try to steer the kids away from those guys
2.) The goodie bags….temper your childrens’ expections in advance ! There’s no Barbie Dolls or Transformers – but there is a handful of Airdrie programmes in each, along with Loom bands, an Aces form, and some old Airdrie United badges. There will, however, be a golden ticket in 3 of them. If your child finds one, these can be exchanged (when redeeming the season ticket voucher) for one of two free passes at Kids Kingdom, or a family ticket of 4 to the Airdrie Town Hall Cinema.
3.) Stock in the Starting Point. This has taken off beyond our wildest dreams, and is a big two fingers up to those who said it wouldn’t work. This is all being funded by the Trust, and therefore we have to be canny with what is ordered. If we run out of stock tomorrow, we can re-order. If you think something is too expensive – or shite – tell me, not anyone else or on the Stomp etc. It’s all trial and error and we will willingly act on anything that looks rubbish or too pricey. In general everything we buy is towards a 50% margin.
4.) Trust and Aces Membership. You will be able to join tomorrow at the Starting Point. The Aces again shows unbelievable value for money at £10 – I think in total it cost over £1k to run last year, which was with only 100 combined Trust and Aces members. There has already been a bit about Trust membership posted today. I – like most - haven’t been a member for ten years – but now see the need for a strong and pro-active Trust to safeguard the future of the club. Please join. As a little extra, we will have a raffle for every batch of 50 members who join, with the prizes being the Family Ticket for Pro Bowl, Family Ticket for the Cinema, and vouchers for Burger 7 and Coney no Dae that. They have 52 members last year. It should easily be looking to get 200 at least
5.) It may go like clockwork…and it might be chaos. But be patient. Everyone is volunteering and has put a stack of work into this. Just bear with them if its busy. We all know each other – pretty much – so be prepared to lend a hand if need be.
6.) Remember it doesnt end tomorrow. There will be a stall at Blackridge Gala Day on Sunday, and we will be taking strip donations all through July. If you miss tomorrow....there is plenty time to get in on the act.
7.) Pub crawl after the Fair – everyone is welcome. Alison Graham has done a fantastic job getting this off the ground when we in reality, we have a wee support. Let’s support the venture and make sure it’s a long lasting ones, and maybe get the beer introduced. Drink lots and be merry.
And lastly…
BRING LOTS OF STRIPS !!!!!
Desperately want to get to the 10000. Let’s not lose sight of that. We can do it.
It’s an overused cliché, but genuinely, let’s move onwards and upwards. WE ARE AIRDRIE.
PS Can someone come and cut my grass cos I've not had a night in the house for 3 weeks and its up to my knees.

Ticket Sales are available on Sunday at the CLUB SHOP (not Starting Point) between 2 and 4. All you have to do is bring your voucher, and you get a season ticket. And hopefully the mums and dads will buy one too.
If you didn't make it to the Fair Day on Saturday and don't have a voucher, then don't panic. You can bring a strip along on any of the dates that the CLUB SHOP is open for Season Ticket sales and STILL GET A TICKET.
We still have some goodie bags left for those of you who couldn't make it on Saturday and bring a strip. Maybe yours will contain one of the two remaining Golden Tickets !
If you want to join the Aces or Trust, or maybe buy some merchandise, you can do so at any of the times that Season Tickets are on sale. Please note that this will be CASH ONLY (although the club will be taking credit cards for adult tickets). Remember that there are still prizes to win for each segment of 50 Trust members we get, and all monies goes to our work with the young fans.
If you DON'T need a season ticket but still have an abundance of strips that you want rid of, then there are PLENTY Donation Stations willing to take them off your hands :-

The draw was made by Radio Clyde's George Bowie at Soccerworld Glasgow tonight, where Trust member Lorna McPhee was raising awareness for our KitAid initiative by taking part in a Bubble Football Charity Match. Lorna - proudly sporting the Diamond, said 'It was great fun, but exhausting. Hopefully it raises awareness of our cause, and I was delighted to see that Soccerworld have agreed to be a Donation Station".
