League stats 2015 - 2016 so far (hopes for a playoff?)
By Stomp Admin March 28 2016
On a quiet Easter Bank holiday Monday we thought it was time to have a look at our league stats with a view to predicting whether Airdrie have a chance of prgressing to the play offs.
Obviously the following is totally speculative and if any of it comes true then I'm going to wish I put a bet on it. As the league stand at the moment.

Airdrie have the second worst home record of the Irn Bru 1st division, but Stranraer with only 17 points at home this season are only one point better than us so I think an away win for the Diamonds on Saturday. Airdrie's season will now come down to beating Stenhousemuir at home and as we've not managed it so far this season it's a tough ask, however if we do beat them then our goal difference is far better than Stanraer and will then come in to play. Forfar have the worst home record in the division and we've already beaten them up there so an away win. Dunfermline at home and Ayr away we shouldn't pick up points in these matches but with one team promoted and the other concentrating on the playoffs who knows.
In Closing
I detest myself for suggesting that Albion Rovers will finish above us in any league, but it is what it is, and as I said above Stenhousemuir at home will now make or break this season.

Fascinating set of stats and well done for pulling together the run in games. I suspect we are due a win against Stenny so a win at Stranraer could set up a very interesting final few weeks. I dont think Stenny/Stranraer will win at Brechin if they are still in with a shout at bottom.and it will go down to the last day when we will win at Ayr as they settle for third place behind Peterhead-could be a John Butler moment as Hugo scores with a lob from the halfway line. Then again we might be out of it inside the next two weeks.
Realistically I think we will still be in this league next season, most of this team will not be here, at least I don't think they will, so probably next season being full time, we should be going for promotion, hopefully as champions
Don't think that the team or the management have any appetite for the playoffs, the players seem to be marking time until the end of the season and the Chairman has clearly stated that his plan starts in June. With Dunfermline out of the way next season's division one will be wide open with nobody a clear favourite (something the Ayr fans would no doubt dispute), so if (and it is a big if) we can put together a strong full time squad properly organised then there is no reason why we should not be Champions next season
I would expect us to stay in League 1 but football is a funny old game; maybe the players ( who are leaving)might want to win just for the sake of it? Few without a season ticket will go along to meaningless games or have the board factored in low home crowd in the Stenny game and maybe Dunfermline fans celebrating with a win here?
Most of this team is going through the motions as they know they wont be part of this club come the end of the season. We don't particularly want to be part of the playoffs as we will most likely have to extend contracts and you know how messy that is from past experience. Also hoping Dunfermline bring a decent support for the last game of the season, cant see that. They have won the league, now their on their holidays.
You should do one from a relegation point of view because if the bottom two win today and our result stays the same we will only be 6 points away from being relegated

Exactly..I think that is where we will be tonight......we could be in the play offs............at the bottom. Can things get any worse than this ??????
A truly shocking result today. Wasn't there myself but the match stats showed that we only had 3 shots at goal in the whole match while they had 17. This would have been unthinkable against Stranraer not too long ago but as has been said many times, we are where we are.

<> Utterly disgraceful result. Players need to take a long hard look at themselves, but then again how many of them will be here next season? Thankfully at least this might be part of the bigger picture and therein lies the hope for fans that it's not the end of the road with the new owner's plans for next season and beyond kicking in. <>
