Bryan Prunty and Jimmy Lister say farewell.

By Stomp Admin
May 5 2016

Does anyone remember the days when you had to wait for an official notification letting the fans know when players join or leave the club? I don’t have any players to my Facebook or Twitter feeds simply because I only have people on them I consider friends, if I don’t know you on a one to one basis I don’t add you. Plus I don’t think any of the players care what I had for dinner last night. So following a link to Bryan Prunty’s and Jim Lister’s Twitter page farewell messages were a surprise.

So in tribute to the two players mentioned above I’ve copied their recorded stats from Soccer base

Bryan Prunty.

Somewhere within both entries is the truth.

*As always please respect Roberts work and ask permission before using any of his picture.*

We have the utmost respect to both these players the work Bryan in particular has done on behalf of the Supporters Trust as an ambassador for the club was always exceptional and very much appreciated, it will be missed. Your time in the Diamond shirt will always be remembered thank you from all Diamonds everywhere.

I still think this is a mistake and hope that if they sign for another club - its in League Two !

For me these two played their best at this level and if we are to have a very young squad next season - their experience - even as part-time players - would have been invaluable.

Obviously it will all come out in the wash whether it's a mistake or not but all players even the favorites leave a club.

I'm not going to get upset about players departing until I see how things pan out.

The excitement of full time football and what it means seems to have escaped many Airdrie fans, it's a new era and we need to accept the changes and move on.

Chris - a tadge dramatic in your assumption (Sm7)I'm not upset and yes players leave every club all the time - I simply offered a view that letting these two players is a mistake - its just an opinion.

As for the excitement of full time football - lets see what happens eh - people are assuming that we will be fitter etc but in football its all about the application - so I'm not really sure what's escaped me here

Being full time does not guarantee success in this league and whilst I am all for giving the younger players a go - it needs to be balanced - so lots to ponder/discuss as players come in - but surely players cant come in until the manager's position is determined ?

Sorry the comments weren't exactly in reply to your status my ramblings are more at the many topics on various forums surrounding players departures in general.

Players do move on but I think Lister will be the more obvious miss.
I could not see him giving up a good job for a season long FT role.I have no clue as to what kind of squad we will have next season but I await further news on confirmed signings.
Thought the first leg play off results produced some interesting speculation on who will be in League One with us. Can Livvy survive? Can Peterhead turn it around? Which of Ayr/Stranraer would give us a slight edge next season? Can Queens park relegate that dreadful Central park lot to league 2? Can Clyde see off Elgin?
If I get my prediction of the final winners of Stranraer and Queens Park We might have a league of:
Airdrieonians/Stenhousemuir/Brechin/Albion Rovers/East Fife/Alloa/and then Ayr/Queens Park/Livingstone/Peterhead/ with it almost being a Lowland League? OR Stranraer/Queens Park/Livingstone/Peterhead with lots more travel?
