Prediction League Game 2 - Airdrie 2 Vs. 4 Livingston

I find it very difficult writing match reports after a loss, it would be so easy to say we were shite and leave it like that but it simply wouldn’t be the truth. There were moment during the game where we played well actually very well unfortunately these were mixed up with a few calamities and poor decision making most of those I can accept with one exception your team captain and one of our most experienced players losing us a goal in the dying seconds is simply not acceptable.
In the opening minutes of yesterday’s defeat we looked like we were going to take the game to Livingston, if we had scored early maybe things would have been different we didn’t and Livingston’s confidence grew, they settled became more composed on the ball and It looked like they could have scored any time they liked.
Much like the Queen’s Park game last week I honestly can’t recall us having a shot on Livingston’s goal in the first half, Livi didn’t have many more but still they went in with a two goal advantage.
Thier first was scored by Danny Mullen, the Airdrie defence were first to a header but the ball was lost in the air and dropped back on to the defenders head, it then broke to Scott Pitman who raced in to the box, his shot was saved by Rohan Ferguson but the ball was spilled and Danny Mullen was first to it.
The second goal was an ex-Airdrie triple, a Lithgow throw found Crighton whose header fell to Liam Buchanan and it was 0-2 Livingston. Again showing we have a problem with set plays.
The second half started well for Airdrie when after eight minutes Ryan with a direct run at the Livingston defence (this is how you beat them and we didn’t do it enough) broke through and shot by Kelly 1-2 and Airdrie have a chance.
Then a goal kick by Ferguson out to the side line was picked off by Livingston’s Miller whose direct run split the Airdrie defence he got to the side lines and his low crossed ball was knocked in by Airdrie debutant Boateng. 1-3.
Airdrie got back in to the game from a Brown free kick, Boateng knocked it on and Ryan showed composure to slot it home. 2-3.
I said my bit about Livingston’s 4th goal above, and I don’t want to labour the point, needless to say Livi won 2-4.
After yesterday’s match the prediction league looks like this.
