A new month a new managerial team good or bad,like or dislike.it is still Airdrie so hope all goes well for Dalziel@Wilson starting on sat with a good win.

Meanwhile on Radio Clyde's Super Scoreboard last night Gordon Dalziel answered questions and points re happenings at Airdrie:-

A caller asked the question "did he appoint Mark Wilson?"

Didn't answer yes or no, said a "number of names were brought up (at the Board discussions) of which Mark Wilson was one". Whilst he acknowledged he obviously knew Mark through the Radio Clyde connection he said that contact on a weekly basis was minimal, was nothing more than that and certainly "not an old pals act". He continued by saying that he (Dalziel) is there to help and assist (Monday to Friday) and that Mark worked under Paul Hartley at Alloa and was touted for the Alloa management job. Dalziel is convinced Mark will do a good job at the club.

From what I can see during Hartley's period at Alloa (2011-2014) Mark was still playing for Celtic before moving to Bristol City, then returning to Dundee Utd until Jan 2015 where he then then went to Dumbarton 'til the end of the season 2014/2015

so someone either doesn't know their stuff or someone is telling porkies.

on the other hand i'am concerned that as Director of Football he didn't/wouldn't confirm that he appointed his head coach...surely that is a fundamental part of the job.
Dalziel is convinced Mark will do a good job at the club...and if he doesn't..what next...another new coach at the end of Jan????

I've listened to the broadcast again and he def. says "worked under Paul Hartley at Alloa and was working with the PFA in the summer" - I wonder if Dalziel is getting mixed up and Wilson was at Dens Park with Hartley after he finished at Dumbarton?

Journalist Roger Hannah also defends Dalziel's appointment by saying that former pundits have gone back into football and done alright - Ian McCall at Ayr, Gus McPherson at Queen's Park, James Grady with the youths at Hampden etc...and said Dalziel did very well at Ayr Utd.

Wilson attempted the Beat The Pundit quiz, losing to a caller and passing on the question "Which Scottish football club has Rocky The Rooster as its mascot?"

The caller suggested he collect his P45 after just a few days in the job.

Mark Wilson appeared on BBC Alba's coverage of the Challenge Cup match (yesterday) between Livingston & TNS. He described his appointment at Airdrie as a "fantastic opportunity" and wanted the team to be tighter at the back and exciting going forward in a more pressing style. Happy with 2 wins though admitted could have scored more on Saturday...

Just realized we were last season? Yes it was funny to hear Craig Gordon say much the same last week and it shows how far the monopoly of the big European leagues has eliminated the "fringe" countries so we can all watch the mid week European floodlit league. I want the same effort from our "fringe" players so it puts pressure on some of the regular 11 to get stuck in at all times.
